Tuition Assistance
Tuition assistance applications are now being accepted for the 2011-2012 school year. All applications are due to the school by March 23, 2011. Please read our Tuition Assistance Guidelines prior to completing your application. Applications are currently available in electronic form as well as available for pick up at the front office.
St. Joseph Elementary School
SJES tuition assistance is administered from the SJES business office and the funds come from the school’s own sources including gifts, donations, and fund raising efforts. The 1st round of tuition assistance grants are processed in March/April prior to the upcoming school year. Applications are available at the school office. Families in their first year at SJES do not qualify for school assistance but are encouraged to complete an application to be considered for FACE.
Family Aid for Catholic Education (FACE)
FACE is funded and administered by the Catholic Diocese of Oakland. The funds come from contributions and gifts solicited by Catholic organizations for support of Catholic school students in the Diocese of Oakland. Applications are available at the school office in early February. Grant results are forwarded to the school in early June. For more information on FACE, please visit their website: www.faceofoakland.org
Bay Area Scholarships for Innercity Children (BASIC)
The BASIC Fund is a privately funded program whose mission is to broaden the educational opportunities for inner-city children by helping low-income families afford the cost of tuition at private schools in the Bay Area. The application deadline is mid-April but late applications may be accepted based on family circumstances. For the application and more information on the BASIC fund, please visit their website: www.basicfund.org.
Please contact Shemra Atkinson, SJES bookkeeper, at (510) 995-9550 or satkinson@csdo.org with any questions you may have. Also, although most of the budgeted assistance is granted in April, we encourage families that encounter financial difficulties during the school year to contact Ms. Atkinson.
